PDO Thread Lift in Leamington Spa (aka Puppet Lift)

As we age, the skins natural production of collagen and elastin slows down and we inevitably end up with a deficiency.

It's this loss of these essential proteins that gradually cause our skin to become drier, thinner and ultimately take on a duller, less youthful appearance. As time goes by, fine lines & wrinkles begin to appear and eventually the skin becomes loose and starts to sag.

So what is a PDO Thread Lift?

A PDO thread lift at Leamington Facial Aesthetics is a non-surgical facelift procedure that helps address these issues enabling you to regain a more youthful appearance without surgery. PDO threads are especially effective at lifting, tightening and rejuvenating skin on the face, neck, cheeks, under the jaw-line (jowls) & décolletage.

If you're looking for a tighter, more youthful, lifted face without surgery, a PDO thread lift is a great option to consider.

How is a PDO thread lift treatment carried out?

The PDO thread lift procedure is performed under local anaesthetic without cuts or incisions and involves placing specially woven threads under the skin with a cannula.

The threads serve two purposes:
Firstly they tighten the skin for a lift that will be visible immediately after treatment, and secondly, they promote the body to produce new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid around the treated area which increases the lift further over time & helps rejuvenate and rehydrate the skin from within.

The procedure effectively regenerates and improves the structure of facial skin in a similar way to a surgical facelift, but without the need for surgery.

Why choose a PDO thread lift at Leamington Facial Aesthetics?

PDO thread lifts utilise a new technique, and an advanced type of Polydioxanone thread. Unlike the threads used in older thread lift procedures, Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are fully biodegradable and use a new, stronger type of weave that is less prone to breakage.

What is Polydioxanone?
Polydioxanone is a biodegradable fibre that has been in use in hospitals as a surgical stitching thread for many years (mostly for internal stitches), however it is still relatively new in the field of aesthetics.

Previous threadlift procedures used a less effective technique and a weaker, non-biodegradable type of thread leading to a higher risk of asymmetry due to breakage - thankfully PDO thread lifts are different.

When carried out by a properly qualified practitioner, PDO thread treatments are safer, highly effective, and with appropriate aftercare the results can last considerably longer than many other aesthetic treatments.

"The results I have achieved to date with clients at my clinic in Leamington Spa have been very impressive indeed. We're living in exciting times, and I wouldn't be surprised if PDO threads were to become a 'go to' aesthetic treatment ahead of many others in the not too distant future." - Rosie

What else makes PDO threads so special?

PDO threads lift sagging skin without the often problematic hooks or tapers associated with older thread procedures. The lift is achieved by a new type of thread weave, and while PDO threads do provide an immediately visible lift to the treated area, after approximately 8 weeks they will also begin to promote synthesis of new elastin and collagen, the body's natural building blocks to healthy skin.

So with PDO threads, not only does the lift continue to improve over time, the new collagen, elastin & hyaluronic acid that is formed leads to further improvement to the external condition of the skin too. So you benefit from both the lift itself and a younger, healthier looking complexion.

So how long does the thread lift last?

Excellent results will be visible immediately after treatment and continue to improve further until the threads have gradually dissolved - which in the case of PDO threads, is around 6 to 8 months. The lifting effect will be at its peak around 6 months after treatment and can remain for up to 3 years depending on age and skin laxity.

Can PDO threads be used alongside other aesthetic treatments?
Yes, additional aesthetic treatments can be useful when used alongside PDO threads, but the order and timescale in which the treatments should be carried out vary depending on the treatment and area of concern. I will advise upon consultation.

How does a PDO thread lift feel?

After the procedure you will likely notice a slight tightness or pulling sensation under the skin, this will generally subside within a few weeks and can be relieved with analgesics if required. If any more worrying sensations occur, do let me know.

What are the side effects & will I need to take time off work?

PDO Thread lift treatments are generally very safe and complications are rare; however, you should expect some swelling, discomfort and a sensation of pulling after the procedure.

Some bruising around the treated area is normal for a few weeks, so I recommend you take this into account and arrange your work and social calendar accordingly.

Some people can be more prone to bruising than others, so if you know this to be the case, then please give yourself a little extra recovery time.

What does the aftercare involve?
After the procedure I will arrange a follow up appointment to assess your progress and provide you with a document detailing the aftercare process you should follow to ensure the best results; including when you can re-apply makeup, how to care for your skin and how to get comfortable at night.

The aftercare does vary from person to person depending on the area treated, but you will need to sleep upright (or on your back) and take extra care to be delicate with skin in the treated area for a few days, this includes avoiding wide mouth movements and applying too much pressure when washing.

Providing my advice is followed you should be able to resume normal activities within a week or two at most.
